Michael Jorgensen has a particular interest in Minnesota composers (in 2011 he sang the world premiere of Libby Larsen’s Turn, Turn) and the music of Norwegian-American composer Theodora Cormontan. In his many years as a bass singer with VocalEssence in Minnesota, he has soloed in many premieres and worked with such conductors as John Rutter, Helmuth Rilling and Nicholas McGegan, as well as VocalEssence director Philip Brunelle. He serves as a professor of Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, where he has taught voice and other music-related courses since 1991.
