THE TUCSON DESERT SONG FESTIVAL APPLAUDS DOROTHY VANEK!
Of the many people whose generosity have made the Tucson Desert Song Festival possible, Dorothy Vanek is the one who sets the standard for philanthropy in the Tucson arts community – not just as a donor, but as a profound lover of music and education.
As festival director George Hanson has said, “In all of my experience with non-profit arts, I have never met a donor as influential, visionary or transformative as Dorothy.”
Dorothy has furthered her vision of achieving a new level of collaboration among arts groups in Tucson through a $150,000 gift enabling TDSF to bring the focus and attention of the entire world to Southern Arizona as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of America’s greatest musician, Leonard Bernstein. Through Dorothy’s support, TDSF has partnered with fifteen performing arts groups to present music, film, conversation and educational events surrounding Bernstein’s legacy this season.
For many years, Dorothy has generously supported such individual organizations as the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, True Concord Voices & Orchestra and the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra–support that will carry through our Bernstein celebration this year, and beyond.
Dorothy continues her many years of work to help improve and expand Tucson’s arts organizations, and through her continued support to the Tucson Desert Song Festival makes them even stronger through unity.
