The 2026 Tucson Desert Song Festival was full of extraordinary singing from a wide range of world-renowned artists and diverse musical styles. We experienced intimate recitals from Metropolitan Opera stars mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton and baritone Will Liverman, as well as GRAMMY Award-winning soprano Karen Slack and celebrated soprano Elena Rivera. The Tucson Symphony Orchestra presented Mozart’s “Requiem” and Berlioz’s “Cléopâtre,” featuring globe-trotting mezzo-soprano Angela Brower, and Arizona Early Music brought to Tucson bass-baritone Davóne Tines—winner of the 2020 Sphinx Medal of Excellence—in a program spanning four centuries, including newly-commissioned pieces. Additionally, the University of Arizona School of Dance welcomed up-and-coming Broadway triple-threat D. Jerome, the Tucson Jazz Festival presented GRAMMY and Tony Award-winning vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Ballet Tucson and Tucson Guitar Society continued their long-standing collaboration with the highly-anticipated return of Himiko and the World Premiere of Desert Dweller. There was certainly no shortage of talent across Tucson’s stages!

As we reflect on all we experienced together, we are delighted to share our first annual Festival Report with you. Inside, you’ll discover highlights of this season including information on our educational programming and composer project.
