DESCRIPTION:With a career spanning almost four decades\, GRAMMY Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell is one of the most celebrated artists of his era. Bell has performed with virtually every major orchestra in the world and continues to maintain engagements as a soloist\, recitalist\, chamber musician\, conductor\, and as the Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. Puerto Rican soprano Larisa Martínez is praised and sought after for her “smoky soprano” (Opera News)\, gracing the world’s top stages and collaborating with major household names of today\, and is a passionate advocate of accessible music education. \nFeatured on the Oscar-winning original score The Red Violin by John Corigliano\, Bell partnered again with the composer in 2025 for the World Premiere of the TDSF and AFCM-commissioned song cycle Tennessee Songs. He and Martínez will take the stage with Music Director José Luis Gómez leading the TSO in the premiere of the newly orchestrated version of Tennessee Songs before performing Bruch’s virtuosic Violin Concerto No. 1. DESCRIPTION:Chanticleer returns to its roots with Guillaume de Machaut’s (c. 1300–1377) Messe de Nostre Dame. This seminal work of liturgical composition is believed to be the first setting of the Ordinary of the Mass by a single composer\, creating a path for generations of composers for whom the mass setting was a requisite achievement. \nKnown around the world for its eclectic repertoire and dazzling virtuosity\, the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer\, under the leadership of Music Director Tim Keeler\, has been hailed by the Boston Globe as “breathtaking in its accuracy of intonation\, purity of blend\, of color\, and swagger of style.” Founded in San Francisco in 1978 by singer and musicologist Louis Botto\, Chanticleer quickly became one of the most prolific recording and touring ensembles in the world\, an “orchestra of voices” performing thousands of live concerts and selling more than one million recordings. \nPre-Show Talk begins at 2:30pm. \nClick Here For Tickets

Inspired by the profound grief he felt by the death of his mother and his mentor Robert Schumann\, he completed the grand\, seven-movement masterpiece over three years. He skipped the traditional Latin text and chose passages from the German Lutheran Bible instead\, creating a work he designed to comfort and console the living. José Luis Gómez conducts Brahms’ poetic setting\, A German Requiem.
