One of the true highlights of the covid-afflicted 2021 Tucson Desert Song Festival was the premiere of Jake Heggie’s song cycle What I Miss the Most, commissioned especially for the festival, and performed by soprano Jamie Barton and the composer at the piano. We are thrilled to announce that Jamie and Jake have been nominated for a Grammy in the Best Solo Classical Album category! It’s a program called Unexpected Shadows, devoted entirely to songs by Jake Heggie–alas, not including the TDSF commission, but a choice selection nonetheless. The CD is available at all the usual outlets. To experience Jamie and Jake performing What I Miss the Most, visit our page of concert videos.
